How To Prepare Sea Scallops

Have you ever tried to bake any kind of seafood? The several different baked seafood are very delicious instead of frying sea food as usualy most of people do.

Baked sea scallops is one of those dishes. When you fry the scallops you get a nice crusty outside and a soft moist center. But this can be fattening and sometimes they get dried out if you leave them in the oil too long. By baking them instead, you stand a much better chance of having them come out the exact way they should be done. Although most of the time scallops come as sort of a side dish with other types of fish, when you try baking them you can make enough to ensure a great entree for the whole family.

Plus it’s alot healthier than the oil. If you just take the time to learn how to bake scallops, you will not mind the time spent after just one bite. American bay scallops are small, round, sweet and delicious seafood. They are usually white or yellowish in color. I believe they turn a yellowish if they have sat too long, because they are usually white. You can saut them, fry them, put them in salads, or pretty much anything you can think of, they are that versatile. There are larger scallops (sea scallops), but they are usually 4-5 times bigger and are not as versatile as these little gems.

Also, the price difference at the grocery store is significan’t. The sea scallops are around $9:99 per pound, but you can enjoy the bay scallops for anywhere from $2.99 a pound (and you get a lot) up to $6.99 a pound. This is a vast nest egg and you still reap the rewards of a great tasting and good for you food item. So get some and really enjoy a treat from the ocean. We are looking for a place to go during vacation this summer where my son could see sea scallops. I’m a bit concerned, as he may not like sea scallops on the plate after he’s seen them live, but I suppose we’ll just have to see what happens.

Does anybody know of aquariums or touch tanks where we can view these aquatic creatures? We expect to travel within America and I would want to teach my son about these water critters, however, I am not sure where to begin. All I really know about scallops is that they have a lot of blue, glowing eyes. But then, I have only seen a picture of sea scallops once and it was in an old issue of the National Georaphic magazine. Does anybody have any good websites about the habitats or habits of live sea scallops? It is hard to find proper information online, and when I searched for sea scallops I found a lot of data, but nothing my son wanted to see.

Following The Atkins Diet Rules

The Atkins diet is very popular, but is it right for you? Before you start down the low carb road, you should take some time to decide whether low carb is the right way for you to lose weight. Just because it has been effective for others doesn’t mean it will be right for you. No specific diet works for everyone, and you may even find that a type of low carb diet that works better for you than another. There are many things to consider before you start the Atkins diet.

First, evaluate your past dieting history. If you’ve been trying to lose weight for a long period of time, you’ve no doubt tried a wide variety of diets. Take note of the different diets you’ve tried over the years. Write down the basics of each diet, what worked and what didn’t. Also, write down why you didn’t stay on the particular diet. Evaluate your experience with high carbohydrate diets. These types of diets include most low-fat and calorie controlled diets. How did you feel while on these types of diets? Were you hungry, obsessed with food or experiencing negative reactions? Or did you feel full of energy and generally good?

To diagnose and evaluate obstructive sleep apnea, a patient will undergo physical examination and polysomnography. It is very important for a person with obstructive sleep apnea to undergo treatment. It is tempting for most people afflicted with this disorder to forego treatment. Having the body at a 30-degree elevation while sleeping to prevent airway collapse due to gravity could also help in apnea treatment. Sleeping on a sideways position may also beneficial in reducing the gravitational cause of sleep apnea.

Alkalize or Die – Results of an Acidic Life Style

New research by such experts as Dr Robert Young is showing that disease is a byproduct of an acidic lifestyle and body and not the result of germs, viruses, or bacteria. In fact, some of the latest medical text books are acknowledging that germs, viruses, and bacteria are not the sole cause of any disease. Intuitively, you know that this is true if you think about it. For any disease you can think of, not every person that is exposed to the disease gets it. Take the flu for example. Many people are exposed the germs and don’t get sick and I’m not talking about the ones that get vaccinated. Think about it. For every person that gets sick, there is somebody else who was in the exact same environment and didn’t get sick. Google Dr. Robert Young and read about some of his research.

Here are a few basics that should convince you to Alkalize or Die. They should convince you of the importance to alkalize your body for good health.

* Acidic foods (sugars especially) destroy tooth enamel. I know this is basic dentistry, but think about it. If sugars create acid that can eat through teeth, imagine what it does to the blood, arteries, muscle, and bones.
* Your body must maintain a specific, alkaline pH in order to stay alive. It must deal with acid in order for this to happen. One way it does this is to neutralize it with fat. The body will create fat or use fat to neutralize the acid. This can lead to a lot of excess body fat if you are living an acidic lifestyle. The good news is that your body will get rid of this fat quickly once you become alkaline. It is possible to lose a pound a day of fat once your body gets alkalized.
* Your arteries must also be protected from acidic blood. The mechanism for this is cholesterol. You know, the stuff that clogs your arteries and causes heart attacks. If your blood is acidic, the body coats your arteries with cholesterol to protect them. Unfortunately, this will kill you too. On the up side, this too will take care of itself rapidly once you alkalize your body.
* As you grow older, you can actually start shrinking because of an overly acidic lifestyle. It is a lifetime of living an acidic lifestyle that is doing that.

How Removing Stretch Marks Isn’t Just A Dream

Stretch marks start off as raised purplish or reddish streaks and scars usually on the hips, tummy, breast and arms (although they can also appear on any part of the body where fat is stored). Over time they flatten out and fade to a silver color but are still visible and many people consider them unsightly.

Some medication (where a side effect is a thinning of the skin) can cause stretch marks. Stretch marks can also be a symptom of Cushings syndrome. This is a rare condition (your chances of developing it are about 1 in 200,000) where you produce excessive amounts of the hormone cortisol.

When the middle layer of skin (the dermis) is stretched, the blood vessels under the surface become visible and purple or red stretch marks appear. The skin then tries to reinforce itself with collagen (a protein produced by the body) which results in the stretch marks changing to a silvery-white color.

Although stretch marks are most commonly associated with weight gain, lots of people who start dieting to lose weight don’t realize that this can also result in stretch marks appearing. The common sense approach to this is that if you lose weight slowly you can lessen your chances of this happening.
