Snoring Cure That Are Effective

April 29th, 2009 by heart_health

Snoring is not just a modern problem, and snoring cures have been around for centuries; although mediaeval snoring cures were more like torture, with the snorer having to drink noxious substances and have pieces of bone shoved up his nostrils – luckily modern cures are more humane, although they can be very expensive with some procedures involving costly surgery.

Why Snoring Cures are so important

Living with a snorer can be an absolute nightmare, and so the one looking for the snoring cure is usually the long-suffering wife who is desperate enough to hit her husband with a frying pan if only that would stop him snoring the fact that he is not doing it on purpose does not make him any easier to sleep with, and snoring has even been known to lead to divorce.

The snorer himself has his own problems to deal with as a chronic snorer will wake many times a night due to his airways becoming blocked — snorers can be permanently exhausted during the day as they cannot get the deep quality sleep that their brains and bodies need to repair themselves, relax and function correctly on the following day at work – this level of sleep is called REM sleep and our internal systems simply cannot do without it.

My other half has snored for the last 20 years, and he has only been persuaded to try a snoring cure by my absolute insistence that the racket he makes can be heard down the street, and that if he does not do something about it he will have to go and sleep in the doghouse and hope that the dog does not mind the noise as much as I do!

Some people are physically predisposed towards snoring, with heavy necks and lower jaws, but for most people the reason tends to be being overweight, drinking alcohol and smoking – probably all three so the ideal cure is to lose weight, go teetotal and stop smoking but hey, this is reality.

Which Snoring Cures are most comfortable?

Some snoring cures are a spray product which works by coating the back of the throat and tongue to lubricate them during sleep, and other products range from a strip of material that goes under the chin and holds the mouth shut (bit like a dog wearing a muzzle) to having your pillows higher or pushing a dilator up your nostrils to keep them open – not very comfortable, but I’m told you get used to it!

If all else fails and your wife is about to leave you to join an order of silent nuns, there is the option of surgery as a snoring cure, although this should be a last resort option, as the price of an operation can run into thousands of dollars and there is always a possibility that the surgery will not cure the problem.
