Does Population Density Impact Your Psyche? The Truth May Surprise You

Enhancingmental health is a massive industry. Just do a simple Google search and you will discover like millions of results. But do you know that the science behind modern neurology is very immature? Like a 100 years young? And that is not even taking into account the recent finding of neuroplasticity (your brain’s capacity to alter) - a discovery that altered what how neurologists see the brain and the birth of brain exercises and memory exercises.
In this post, I am going to reveal 2 things that most folks fail to do when it comes to keeping up and improving their mental health. As the science is so new, don’t be surprised if even professionals omitted these. Here goes.
1. You might by now realize that brain exercises will strengthen brain functions. This is because when approached by a challenge, your brain alters and become stronger, just like your muscles. But do you know that there is an essential ingredient that scientists take for granted? When challenges were presented to 2 batch of rats - 1 in a group with regular social interaction and the other in seclusion, the end results were quite contrasting. The rats in groups had more neurons - as foreseen - but the brains of the rats in seclusion actually wasted away! That’s right, brain exercises could boost your mental health, yet this is true only assuming that you have regular social interaction.
2. You might not notice this however open space has a huge influence on your psychology. A test was once conducted by John B. Calhoun, again on rats. When space was sufficient, the rats behaved as expected in an ideal universe he put them in. But when they reproduce and space became rare, he witnessed unnatural transformation in the rat’s behavior. Girls refuse to reproduce and became more aggressive while guys became anti-social and ended courtship. Lonely confinement has much been used as a torture means therefore don’t use it against yourself. Go out to some open space, preferably out of town, at worst once a week. You will love the feeling.
